Pasadena Photowalk

The Tournament of Roses parade is right around the corner, January 1 to be exact, and thousands of people will invade Pasadena, California to check it out, along with the Rose Bowl game.

So of course you’re wondering about what it’s like to visit Pasadena, where to go, what to see, where to get your best shots, right?

Good news: Your Photowalks guy to the rescue!

I recently spent two days in the L.A. suburb (10 miles from DTLA) with my pal Dave Basulto from @iographer, doing the parade route and checking out the town’s sites.

From the stately Colorado Street Bridge to the Norton Simon Museum,  the cool vintage shopping district of Old Pasadena, amazing City Hall, post office and Library, the unforgettable Urth Caffe and Pasadena Playhouse.

Can you name the spot below where I’m photographing with my trusty Sony?

And, of course, Pasadena is a great town to view roses! I hear they can make some parade floats out of these flowers. Amazing!

My inspiration for the video started with my new friend Jean, who invited me to Pasadena for a visit, and pal Chris, who told me of his plan to spend New Year’s Day watching the parade. Thanks guys!

If you’re a fan of L.A. freeways, we’ve now chronicled the complete #110, from Pasadena, where it begins, to the very end, in San Pedro.
